MAVIC COMETE 85 Tubeless Ready Rear Wheel (Center Lock)

The MAVIC COMETE 85 Rear Wheel is developed for time trials and triathlons, with maximum priority given to speed and aerodynamic efficiency. Its 85 mm Aero Wide rim profile features an internal width of 23 mm and an external width of 31 mm, optimised for modern 28 mm tyres.

The build features a 100% carbon design incorporating Adaptive Layup technology. Using T700, T1000 and 3K fibres delivers an excellent compromise between stiffness, weight and responsiveness. With a claimed weight of 1,750 g per pair, this configuration maintains a lightweight build tailored to the demands of time trials and triathlons.

The 21 Mavic Aero Carbon spokes directly enhance the wheel's aerodynamic performance. Their configuration includes 14 two-cross and 7 radial spokes, achieving an ideal balance of lateral stiffness, power transfer and drag reduction. The design was notably developed and validated through wind tunnel testing.

The hub features Mavic Ceramic bearings and the ID360 40T freehub system, engineered for near-instant engagement. The hubs feature an aluminium shell, 12 mm thru-axles and a Center Lock brake rotor interface. The wheel is compatible with multiple freehub body standards.

The COMETE 85 is compatible with tubeless, tubeless-ready and standard inner-tube setups. The recommended tyre width is 28 mm, with ETRTO compatibility from 28 to 65 mm. Hand-built by Mavic experts and laboratory tested, the wheel comes supplied with a tubeless valve, pre-fitted tubeless rim tape and a Mavic wheel bag.
