Description

The EXAFORM 860-i dropper seatpost 2.0 stands apart in the range: it is not just a dropper post, but also a suspension seatpost. In addition to its height-adjustment travel, it features 40 mm of air suspension travel that works throughout the height range, just like a suspension fork or shock.

Drawing on KS (Kind Shock) expertise, it has features usually reserved for high-end posts: aluminium body, sealed cartridge, forged head components and one-piece stanchion. Its construction has been validated to the Zedler for e-bikes and pedelecs, making it particularly well suited to electric mountain bikes, which are heavier and faster.

Adjust the suspension’s air pressure with a pump according to your weight, aiming for around 15% sag in the fully extended position. It makes a real difference to comfort on smoother trails, connecting sections and touring rides, where vibrations are most tiring. Cable routing is internal, for a clean-looking bike (provided the frame is compatible).

Please note: because of its suspension function, this post does not have a completely rigid fully extended position.

Handlebar remote, cable and housing included

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between the 860-i and a conventional dropper post? A conventional dropper post only raises and lowers the saddle. The 860-i also adds 40 mm of built-in air suspension, active throughout the height range. So you gain comfort on smoother sections and over vibrations without having to choose between a suspension seatpost and a dropper post.

How do I adjust the suspension pressure? Adjust the air pressure with a high-pressure shock pump according to your weight. Aim for around 15% sag in the fully extended position, or 5 to 10 mm when you are seated on the saddle in your cycling kit. Increase the pressure if it bottoms out; reduce it if the post feels too firm.

Is the 860-i suitable for an electric mountain bike? Yes, that is its primary intended use. Its construction has been validated to the Zedler standard for e-bikes and pedelecs, a more demanding benchmark than the standard for conventional mountain bikes because of their greater weight and speed. At Probikeshop, it is one of our top recommendations for an electric mountain bike used for touring.

Which diameter and travel should I choose? The diameter must match your frame’s seat tube exactly: 30.9 or 31.6 mm. You can find it engraved on your original post or listed in the bike’s specifications. For travel, measure the available height between the seat clamp and your saddle rail: modern frames generally accommodate 125 or 150 mm, while older or smaller frames may be limited to 75 or 100 mm.

Does my frame need to support internal cable routing? Yes. The 860-i uses internal cable routing: the cable exits at the bottom of the post and passes through the seat tube and frame to the handlebar remote. If your frame is not designed for internal dropper-post cable routing, choose an externally routed model such as the EXAFORM Jag.

Is the handlebar remote included? Yes, the post comes complete with a handlebar-mounted remote lever, cable and housing of the correct length, and mounting hardware. You just need standard tools—Allen keys and cable cutters—plus a shock pump to adjust the suspension.

What is the maximum rider weight for this post? Like the rest of the EXAFORM range, the 860-i is designed for a maximum rider weight of 90 kg, including equipment. Above that, the suspension’s adjustment range cannot provide the correct sag, so it is better to choose a post from a higher-end KS range.
