Description

The EXAFORM 900-i 2.0 dropper seatpost is the new generation of the brand’s unbeatable-value model, designed for Trail, All-Mountain and Enduro riding on both conventional and electric mountain bikes.

Drawing on KS (Kind Shock) expertise, it has features usually found on much more expensive posts: aluminium body, sealed hydraulic cartridge, forged head components and one-piece stanchion. Compared with the first-generation 900-i, the 2.0 adds an automatic bleed system that expels air trapped in the cartridge, as well as an adjustable air pressure to adjust the return speed to suit your weight and preferences.

Its greatest strength remains the breadth of the range: 8 travel options from 75 to 210 mm and 3 diameters (30.9, 31.6 and 34.9 mm), with options for both older frames with limited insertion depth and modern long-travel mountain bikes. Cable routing is internal, for a tidy cockpit (provided the frame is compatible).

Handlebar remote, cable and housing included

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between the 900-i 2.0 and the original 900-i? The 900-i 2.0 retains the first generation’s sealed hydraulic cartridge and aluminium construction, but adds an automatic bleed system that expels air trapped in the cartridge, adjustable air pressure to fine-tune the return speed, and, above all, a much wider range: 8 travel options from 75 to 210 mm instead of 4, plus a 34.9 mm diameter option.

Which seatpost diameter should I choose? The diameter must match your frame’s seat tube exactly: 30.9, 31.6 or 34.9 mm. You can find this measurement on the original seatpost, often engraved near the clamp, or in the bike’s specifications. At Probikeshop, we can fit an undersized post with a shim, but a post that is too large will not fit.

How do I know what travel will fit my bike? The travel you can fit depends on the space available between the seat clamp and your pedalling saddle height. Measure from the top of the seat tube to the rail of your current saddle, then check that the post’s overall length minus its travel is less than this measurement. In practice, a modern size M frame will often accommodate 150 to 170 mm, while an older or smaller frame may be limited to 100 or 125 mm.

Does my frame need to support internal cable routing? Yes. The 900-i 2.0 uses internal cable routing: the cable exits at the bottom of the post and must pass through the seat tube and frame to the handlebar remote. If your frame has no internal routing for a dropper post, choose an externally routed model such as the EXAFORM Jag.

Is the handlebar remote included? Yes, the post comes complete with a handlebar-mounted remote lever, cable and housing of the correct length, and mounting hardware. No additional purchase is needed for installation, apart from standard tools (Allen keys and cable cutters).

Does it need any special maintenance? The cartridge is sealed and needs no manual bleeding thanks to the 2.0’s automatic bleed system. Routine maintenance is limited to cleaning the stanchion after every muddy ride, lightly lubricating it around the wiper seal and periodically checking cable tension, the most common cause of sluggish actuation.

What is the maximum rider weight for this post? Like the rest of the EXAFORM range, the 900-i 2.0 is designed for a maximum rider weight of 90 kg, including equipment. Above that, it is better to choose a post from a higher-end KS range, whose structure and cartridge are designed for greater loads.
