RockShox Maxima Plush Dynamic Suspension Lube Heavy was developed jointly by RockShox and Maxima Racing Oils to lubricate fork lowers and non-hydraulic suspension components. It is the high-viscosity version of the Plush Dynamic range, recommended by RockShox for short-travel cross-country and gravel forks.
On a short-travel fork, a more viscous oil improves suspension performance and feel. “Heavy” refers only to viscosity: this lubricant weighs no more than the Light version and does not slow the fork down. Its Surface Active technology reduces static friction (stiction) and dynamic friction for smooth action throughout the travel, while its seal conditioners and detergents extend seal life and keep the system clean.
Which forks is the Heavy version recommended for? RockShox recommends it primarily for the lowers of SID, SID SL and Rudy forks. Always check your fork’s manual or specifications chart: some models use the Light version.
Why use a more viscous oil in a lightweight XC fork? According to RockShox, a short-travel fork works better with a more viscous lubricant. “Heavy” has nothing to do with weight: it compromises neither lightness nor responsiveness.
Can it be mixed with the Light version? No, it is best not to mix different viscosities. Drain the fork lowers and use only the oil recommended for your fork.
Can it be used in the damper cartridge? No. It is a lubricant for fork lowers, not a hydraulic damping fluid.
